It doesn't matter where you are, people know it, from East LA to Indiana to NYC. Often they don't know where it's from, they think it's Africa (Tanzania) or somewhere else. More often they think it's an imaginary animal, which is pretty strange. However, I remember when I first saw a real road runner it was weird to see an actual animal when you've only ever seen the cartoon.
