Call for Ideas: What Does Tasmania Stand For?
Background: As we’ve already discussed here, a big part of how good brands work is through the communication of meaningful values. The current Tasmanian brand values according to the Government website are: Trustworthy, Resourceful, Creative, Pure, Friendly, Distinctive Quality. Is this really us? Can we narrow it down to a potent mix of 3-4 key ideas that really mean something?
Question: What do you think are the main values that sets Tasmania apart from the rest of the world?
(Please answer below via comments. A poll will follow to gain a consensus.)

Scrub trustworthy off the list. Honest, friendly, level headed
Hi,
first time Ive heard for Tasmania on TV(cartoon). Not long after Ive found that tasmanian devil(cartoon character)is tangible creature and that the place by this name is not a part of someones imagination…
Tasmania sounds so far and unknown for someone who lives in Europe
Tasmania. Devil knows.
Hope it will be useful
Open to dare I say the possibilities
pure, unique, cosy, nostalgic, beautiful
as a very proud tasmanian living in melbourne, I never cease from being a fiercely proud tasmanian.
how do I see tasmania & tasmanians ?
loyal
proud
clean
warm & welcoming
jewel in the crown
proud & protective of island status
secretive
tight with “our own”
up for “us verses them” contest ie. trade, sport
I hope this has added to the brand value ideas
I look forward to watching the progress and hopefully – contribute.
Peter
I think creative, pure and may be wild. I think reflections on character tend to ring hollow these days like loyal or even friendly. You have to be careful about comparisons. The Fijians are friendly and I doubt most cultures cant compete on that front. The Scots are proud but that tends to also make them dangerous when they are pissed so what are we trying to say here¿
The jewel in the crown analogy has a lot of potential. Hidden gem, rough diamond. Geometric shape/s, perhaps echoing the triangle shaped land mass.
I think we are more than just a tiger. The tiger is our past. Do Tasmanians really want to keep championing an extinct species forever? What does that say about us?
Proud Tasmanians are dangerous when pissed, too.
